NM State Treasurer James B. Lewis Re-Election Campaign Kickoff Set for 10/17
The kickoff announcement event for the re-election campaign of New Mexico State Treasurer James B. Lewis will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Chaco Rooms 1 and 2 at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The IPCC is located at 2401 12th Street NW (north of I-40) in Albuquerque. All are encourage to attend, meet the candidate and learn about the campaign.
Lewis, a Democrat, has extensive experience in government having served as Chief of Staff for Governor Bruce King, as well as Chief Administrative Officer and Chief of Operations for the City of Albuquerque. He was previously elected as the Bernalillo County Treasurer, and served as State Treasurer from 1985 to 1990. He was elected as Treasurer again in 2006, and is seeking a second term.
In September, Lewis was elected unanimously by his peers to serve as president of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) for a one-year term beginning January 1, 2010. He has a Master's degree in public administration from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor's degree in education from Bishop College in Dallas, as well as Bachelor's and associate's degrees in business administration from the National College of Business.
