Voter Action Urges Support for Holt Election Reform Bill to Require Paper Ballots

From Holly Jacobson, Executive Director, Voter Action: We have endorsed the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2009 (H.R. 2894), a bill just introduced into the U.S. Congress by Congressman Rush Holt of New Jersey. The measure would amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to require a voter-verified permanent paper ballot and post-election audits nationwide in federal elections. Just the other day, the New York Times joined as an endorser of the bill. In backing the bill, the paper said: "Few issues matter as much as ensuring that election results can be trusted."

We urge you to call your Member of Congress and ask him or her to support this bill. The U.S. Capitol Switchboard number is (202) 224-3121. We also urge you to share this info with your friends and ask them to call their Members of Congress.

Your support of Voter Action is critical to our continuing efforts fighting for election integrity across the country. Click to make a secure, online donation. Thank you for continuing to stand up for democracy.
