First Amendment Rights? What Are Those?

Read the post and watch the video. The horse charge is particularly educational as to what Bush can be expected to do as things worsen: Cops Shut Down Anti-War Press Conference in DC 9.6.2007

Watching that video makes me wonder why the citizens in that city allow the Police to be so wasteful of their resources. Do they really have that low of a crime rate to allow it? A cop on a horse, a patrol car racing to the scene with lights and siren blaring for a serious felony in progress, NOPE, to apprehend a couple of anti-war protesters PEACEFULLY pasting a poster to a utility box. A very minor misdemeanor, but hey, thanks D.C.Police for the publicity and demonstrating how asinine some have become over the Bu$h Admins immoral Iraq occupation.

Don't you know that stopping free speech is one of the most important goals of the Bush version of "homeland security"? I thought I heard one of the cops say in the video that the protestors were a "threat to national security."

This video makes my blood boil. It is incredulous that our country accepts this, that our media are totally silent on this. You don't even see any comments on TrouthOut or any of the other "Liberal News" organizations.

I wish I could say I was surprised... but I'd be more surprised these days if Bush did respect the rights of those who disagree with him. There were a couple of teachers, I think, who showed up at a rally of his. They were critics of his, wearing deliberately non-offensive shirts that said something along the lines of "support the troops," and they got arrested.

Heheh... I'll admit to trying to cash in on this habit of Bush's by designing a shirt some time back that says, "I wore this shirt to a Bush speech and all I got was a lousy pair of handcuffs."
