Dem CNN-YouTube Debate Today at 5PM

The first of six presidential "debates" officially sanctioned by the DNC starts today at 5:00 PM MDT at The Citadel military college in Charleston, SC. It's a joint presentation by CNN and YouTube, with more than 1300 3000 video questions being submitted by the public. Candidates reportedly reviewed 600 of the 30 second clips, and about two dozen will be used in the forum tonight. Anderson Cooper of CNN will moderate. The debate will be shown live on CNN TV and streamed live on CNN.com. I'm sure there will be repeats on the cable news channel and clips available online.

Candidate websites will be hosting chats and other debate companion features, including Gov. Bill Richardson's campaign online. You can join their live chat with campaign staff and other supporters from around the country at 4:30 PM MDT. You can also submit your feedback on the debate to here.

1/2 way thru, I think I can state this is the dumbest format yet. Stupid questions, and dumber questioners.... but I think most of them were sober.

the only thing worse would have been if it was on Foxhole

Actually, some of the questions are very pointed and interesting... I like the "Would you be President for minimum wage?" It hits the federal minimum wage issue pretty well, as well as questioning their committment to the duties as opposed to perks and glory.

I liked many of the questions but it was horrible how Anderson Cooper ran the forum. He directed the questions at one or two candidates without much sense leaving others no chance to talk about important issues like health care. He gave much more time to the "frontrunners" than others and seemed more concerned about cramming in all the questions than getting informative answers.

I'm sure some people making the youtube videos asked much more thoughtful and serious questions than some of those picked. The choices too often about gotcha issues like that nut calling his assault weapon his "baby." The talking snowman was cute but the global warming issue isn't and Cooper only let Kucinich answer the question.

But I think the questions were better than the one asked by the usual mainstream media "stars" they usually have asking them. The more public participation the better even if CNN still had the power to screen the thousands of entries into a few dozen.

Mike Gravel again had the most important thing to say challenging all of them about the dirty money they take from Wall Street and big corporations. They never answer but just try to act like he's crazy. Crazy like a fox.
