I read Tom Daschle's article on what he is going to do for American health care. Word per word it sounded exactly like Richardson's proposed scam of having a "committee" of cronies "study" it.
All these guys are interested in doing is to preserve the dysfunctional private insurance industry.

This from Amazon book review sounds like more than that:

"Daschle proposes creating a Federal Health Board, similar to the Federal Reserve System, whose structure, functions and enforcement capability would be largely insulated from the politics and passion of the moment, in addition to a merging of employers' plans, Medicaid and Medicare with an expanded FEHBP (Federal Employee Health Benefits Program) that would cover everyone."

Besides Daschle will be pushing Obama's plan not his. Ezra Klein says Daschle will be more like a congressional pusher than a policy guy:
