Colorado Pics of the Day: Shades of Aspen

The second installment of photos from our trip last week to Central Colorado. Here are two views of aspen with hues ranging from golden to flame, on the road to the old mining town of St. Elmo, up Chalk Creek Canyon road near Nathrop, CO:

You sure picked a fantastic time to go! Lovely color! Was it cold up there?

Hi Nancy! It was pretty chilly for a few days of the trip but all very manageable. We used the wood stove in our cabin quite a bit though! Made it toasty real quick.

We didn't think the colors would be at such a peak yet but with this early coolness, the trees changed dramatically during the week we were up there. Near the end of our trip it even snowed in the higher elevations so the top peaks were dusted in snow. Beautiful.
