Sunday Bird (Doggie) Bloggie

Once again, we're featuring a canine version of our regular Sunday Bird Blogging. Sue, my long-time friend and partner in crime, got a new pet this week:

Heidimaedimarco_1

The sweet and friendly Heidi Mae is a 7-month-old cross between a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and Australian Shepherd. She looks more like a Mountain Dog, but will be residing in Rockford, Illinois, which is flat as a pancake. I don't think she'll care! I imagine her days will be filled with love and fun, and playful romps with Sue's several felines who are just a might wary of Heidi Mae so far. Cats are like that. Soon they'll probably be riding on Heidi's back!

That's a nice looking dog there!

And Bailey approves wholeheartedly of dog blogging.

Hey, don't badmouth Rockford. It's only an hour or so south of the beautiful terminal morraines of southern Wisconsin, overlooks the lovely Rock river, isn't very far east of the Mississippi valley or north of the Illinois river valley, and is the former home of the Rockford Watch Company. Don't blame Rockford for the fact that Ronald Reagan's birthplace isn't too far away.

Ha ha! Since I grew up in Chicago, I know what you're talking about! Being bracketed by the likes of Iowa and Indiana, Chicagoland folks regularly go north to WI for vacations and long weekends. However, the only place I know of in Illinois that isn't flat as a pancake is the area around Galena, home to President U.S. Grant.

Although Heidi Mae may miss mountains, I'm sure she'll enjoy the Rock River area, the cornfields, trips to Wisconsin and the love of her master. And remember, she's not that far from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field...
