Angels on Central

The happening new local blog Duke City Fix has an article with photos about Saturday's counterprotest on Central by UNM against the dark forces of "Reverend" Fred Phelps' traveling band of hate-mongers. And there are links to more on the story at Truth, Rants, and Rambling and Fleck's Inkstain. Also check out a collection of Fleck's moving photos of the Angels, ala the Matthew Shepherd murder trial in Laramie.

Here's what the Albuquerque Journal had to say.

Good to see that responses to the Phelps groups' negativity have been restrained yet strong. I see that it's staying that way as they move on to Santa Fe trying to sow the seeds of violence. We won't let 'em, will we?

WOW!!
This is so emotional for me.
To have these people out saying fags deserve to die is really really unbelieveable. It is such an outrage. It brings me back to the saturday dem party meeting and having the gay resolutions pulled out of the packet....subtle but something fishy still there. The lack of one of those speakers to mention gay people and that they are accepting us and glad to have us in the dem party. Patsy Madrid running faster then I have ever seen her move on an issue to stop committed gay relationships from getting married.
There is some distance between the two, but really how much? One fosters the other.
Soon another beautiful young male or female will be beat to shit in the streets of NM, why? Because intolerance just continues on a variety of levels.
HEY .... IT HURTS.....IT HURTS ALOT!!
How beautiful for the white winged angels and the others that went to stand in front of them, like the humans we are.
A big GAY Thank you to the people for going to show our human face.
