Rep. Harry Teague Kicks Off Job Resources Fairs in Los Lunas Feb. 1

Now this constitutes a much-needed effort to meet the needs of working people in communities in your district. Congressman Harry Teague released a statement today announcing that he will host a series of Job Resources Fairs across the 2nd Congressional District. The series of fairs will kick off at the Transportation Center in Los Lunas on Monday, February 1st (see schedule below the break). These events will feature federal, state, local and private employers across a variety of sectors, including energy, healthcare, law enforcement, education and the armed services.

More than 30 employers are scheduled to attend the fair in Los Lunas, including Sandia National Labs, PNM, Schott Solar, Kirtland Air Force Base, University of New Mexico, New Mexico Tech, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, Presbyterian Health Services, the US Census, Los Lunas Schools, Belen Schools, and Los Lunas and Bosque Farms Police Departments.

“Times are tough. It’s hard enough finding a new job, but it is impossible if you don’t know where to look or how to present yourself to employers,” said Teague in a written statement. “That’s why I have brought together local businesses, employers, colleges, and universities to host this job opportunity fair. New Mexicans want to get back to work, and I organized these job resources fairs to help them do that.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from companies in the area with immediate job openings to fill. Additionally, experts will be on hand to offer advice on career training, resume development and interviewing skills, as well as other benefits available and resources to aid in your career search. Smaller, half-hour breakout sessions focused on these issues will be held throughout the course of the event. The full breakout session schedule is below.

These events are free and open to the public. Details for Job Resources Fairs in Silver City on February 16th, Roswell on February 17th, and Las Cruces on February 22nd will be made available soon.
