DPBC: Help Needed for Apartment Fire Victims, Including One of Our Own

From the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County (DPBC): As many of you saw on the news, the Huning Castle Apartments at 15th and Central burned down Tuesday night, leaving about 30 residents without a home. Among those displaced by the fire were our own Dallas Timmons (Chair, Ward 11A) and her son. Dallas and Ren managed to escape with their two cats and a laptop computer. Everything else, at this point, is considered to be a total loss.

Democrats pride themselves in their desire to help out those in need. This time one of those is an individual who has given so much to the success of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County. It's time for the party, and all of us whose lives have been touched by Dallas' giving spirit, to band together to help her and her neighbors.

Here's what's happening, so far:

A relief account has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank. Individual Democrats are being asked to give what they can. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo branch across the state. The account is called the "Dallas Timmons Fire Fund."

Offers of donated household goods are beginning to come in. If you have unwanted household items or furniture to donate, please coordinate with Millie Peifer at 453-0358. A collection point hasn't been arranged yet, so please hold onto the items for the time being until we know the needs of the families involved.

When we "pass the hat" at the August 20th , all proceeds will be donated to the fire victims' relief fund. Please give generously.

Title One Homeless Project
The fire victims aren't the only ones in desperate need of our help. Donations of school supplies are still very much in need by homeless APS students. Let's fill that tote 100 times over!
