Richard Romero's ABQ Mayoral Campaign Seeking UNM Student Interns

From the Richard Romero for Albuquerque Mayor Campaign:

About The Internship: Get college credit and intern on a political campaign. Application deadline is May 15th. Political campaigns are exciting. There’s no other way to gain a deeper understanding of politics than by working directly on a local campaign.

Many people have made careers out of working full-time for campaigns—from specializing in fundraising, communications, field, or campaign management. Campaign internships are about gaining experience, meeting others in the field and working as part of team towards a collective goal.

Romero for Mayor: Former New Mexico State Sen. Richard Romero is running for Mayor of Albuquerque to bring much needed change to City Hall. As Mayor, Richard will steer a new course to revitalize our economy and make job creation a top priority. His tested leadership will make our city and its neighborhoods safer. Richard Romero will restore honesty, transparency and good will to City Hall.

Join our team and become an intern to gain practical organizing experience by working side by side with our staff to undertake a variety of voter contact and field oriented responsibilities. Work duties will include managing volunteers, planning and scheduling phone banks, canvasses, etc, and making sure data is entered correctly, and in a timely fashion.

Application Process: Internships are available expressly for the purpose of furthering educational objectives; therefore they are unpaid and will be awarded to those who will be enrolled in UNM undergraduate courses in Fall 2009. Interns will be responsible to commit 20 hours a week between the time they are accepted and the election, October 6, 2009.

The application deadline is May 15, 2009. Selection is based on an applicant's general office and computer experience, “fire in the belly,” and an interview.
