One of the best parts of the Spring meeting of the Democratic Party of New Mexico's State Central Committee meeting was getting to catch up with many of our state and federal elected officials. There were the speeches of course, but also opportunities to hang out and talk a bit with them at the social events and in the hall.

One of my favorite events this year was a Bernalillo County Party fundraiser breakfast at Nick's Crossroads in downtown Albuquerque that was organized by DPBC's new Vice Chair, Victor Raigoza, and sponsored by Michael Padilla of Altivus. Great opportunity for schmoozing with friends and politicos alike. Not to mention the food.

Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico's Third Congressional District was everywhere, shaking hands, giving out bear hugs and talking a blue streak about the exciting and wide-ranging agenda being pursued by Obama and the Congress. He was all about powerful accomplishments in the first 100 days, and the challenging work ahead on issues like reforming health care and mitigating climate change.
