Domestic Partnership Health Insurance Bill Tabled in NM Senate Judiciary
I got a report that SB 439, the Domestic Partner Health Insurance bill sponsored by Sen. Peter Wirth was tabled in the Senate Judiciary Committee today as a result of a 5-5 tie. I don't know much more as yet, although the bill apparently became laden with a screwball amendment addressing some sort of imaginary fears about it being used within a family group and or by child predators or something. Same old shenanigans. The original bill was reportedly amended in such a way that it caused Sen. Wirth himself to vote against it so it would be tabled. I hear he will redo the bill and try to get it before the Committee again. More to come as I get it.
See my previous post for more on this bill.
