NM Senate Debate on Domestic Partnerships Scheduled for Thursday 2.26.09

According to the Coalition for Domestic Partnership, the Domestic Partner Rights and Responsibilities Act (SB 12) is scheduled to be heard on the Senate Floor tomorrow, Thursday, February 26th. Please contract your Senator and urge him or her to pass the bill. If you can, join Coalition members and other backers of the bill at the Roundhouse to show your support. The forces working against the bill will no doubt be out in force. They're panicked.

Senators go on the floor at 10 AM. Plan to come early. The gallery could fill up before 8 AM. Please know it could be a long day and the vote could take place in the afternoon. Bring something to read, some snacks, etc.

I just got a call from the Republican party here in Socorro asking me to call Howie Morales. They want me to ask him to vote against the SAME SEX MARRIAGE bill.

Bring a friend along with those snacks, so you can take turns saving your seats. You can't eat in the gallery.

Interestingly enough, you CAN use a laptop, at least you could last session. (Not allowed in the House.)

Any word on whether the debate will be webstreamed?

BTW it was a robo-call.

gofdisks: Are you positive it was from the Republican Party? Do you recall if it was your county party, the state party or the national? Did they ID themselves on the call as having paid for it?

Ellen: The New Mexico Independent was going to video webcast the Senate hearing when it was originally thought it would come up today, so they might be doing it tomorrow. Gwyneth Doland has been doing a great job with that up in Santa Fe for certain hearings.

The KUNM website will no doubt have an audio webcast of it too.

Dear Barb, I picked up the phone amidst running hearth and home evening routine.
I do not recall if a statement was made as to who paid for the lying propaganda. It did ask me if I was tired of radical left wing policies and beseeched me to join the Republican party.
