Today: City Councilor Michael Cadigan to Announce Candidacy for Albuquerque Mayor

The announcement will take place at Desert Paper & Envelope Co., located at 2700 Girard NE, just North of Menaul. (Click for map.)

As Mayor, public safety will be the highest priority for Councilor Cadigan. He will work with APD to create a police force that places professionalism over politics and works toward engaging in real community policing.

He will keep city spending under control, while restoring public trust and confidence in city government. Councilor Cadigan will make sure Albuquerque remains on the forefront of the green economy, and make it easier for private capital to invest in local growth.

Councilor Cadigan is in his second term representing District 5, the northwest part of Albuquerque. He was first elected in 2001 and was re-elected in 2005. He was elected Council President in 2003. He has served as the chairman of the Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee and budget chairman for the Committee of the Whole which annually reviews the Mayor's proposed operating budget.

Councilor Cadigan is the principal of Cadigan Law Firm, P.C. where he practices in the area of commercial law. He is a graduate of the Lewis & Clark Law School (Certificate in Natural Resources and Environmental Law) and the University of Arizona (Political Science and Spanish). From 1985 to 1991, he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and on active duty.

Councilor Cadigan has been married to Traci Cadigan for 19 years and they have two children.

This is clearly identified as coming from Cadigan's campaign. Where do you see any claim that progressives support this guy or that he's progressive?

You must be shilling for Marty Chavez. Marty should have long ago been investigated by the grand jury for his ABQ PAC slush fund and how he got his big donations from the business community here by threatening their livelihoods unless they coughed up the dough.
