Six Years Beyond

How fragile we are. How fragile we are. Remembering all the deaths that have come from violence, whether on 9.11.01, or before, or after.

"An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth and the whole world would soon be blind and toothless." --Mahatma Gandhi

"Fragile"

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are

Great post honey.
What a day 6 years ago this was.
And now we just pick up our pencils and keep drawing. I have paused many times to think of the souls taken from the earth so abruptly, and us watching. And then to think of the death and destruction after the sad day of 9.11.01, it is really tragically sad. Life is not normal.
Sting's song is so powerful. Amazingly timely eerie even. How fragile we are.
and neil it IS only castles burning.
peace and love to all who read this....
that is just one of my good deeds for the day.
Love the ones you are with.

Great post.

It truly is sad how many people were killed this day 6 years ago, but perhaps even more sad that in a way, the US gave into the terrorists. The whole objective of a terrorist, by definition, is to create terror. These feelings of terror were perpetuated by a previously unpopular president and used to push through all kinds of "security measures" that essentially handed victory to bin Laden on a silver platter. If bin Laden was trying to change the American way of life, he more or less succeeded.

Check out Russ Feingold's testimony in the senate hearings today. (Kos has a U-tube on it.) He really nailed the problem for me, as no other person has done.

Jeanne - I saw that too and in fact had added the video to the left-hand side bar on this page where I've been trying out having a different video every day. It's under the Must See article links area.

I like what Randall and Mary Ellen commented too. It was so unnecessary and mean to create this atmosphere of fear and invasion. Sometimes all we can do is love the ones we're with and keep and trying another day.

911 changed us all...I know 911 changed me. I immediately anticipated what has happened since then... but I didn't think it would become THIS insane. The terrorists have won, and Bush is the biggest terrorist. "War is terror but with a bigger budget."
(Hi, Jeanne! I haven't seen you in so long. I guess I better get my butt to meetup, huh?! I hope you're well. Now I shall go listen to my hero Russ Feingold on your recommendation. He inspires me... as do you 3: Barb, M.E., and Jeanne.)

Barb, I did NOT post that comment twice... why did it repeat?

Hi Nancy: Sometimes the comment posting tool is buggy. I removed the repeat.

I surely agree that we've played right into Osama's hands. He's bankrupting America in many ways, literally and figuratively and just sitting back to laugh. He's got us quagmired in a land war that's costing $9 BILLION a month. Power in Iraq has gone to Iranian allies. It's a great recruiting tool for more terrorists. And we've got?
