Lieberman for U.S. Attorney General?

Rumors are proliferating. Say it isn't so. If this is for real we'll have to give our Senators a barrage of phone calls urging them to return to sanity, don't you think?

Would this mean his seat in the Senate would be open?

I'm not completely sure but I think it would mean that a replacement for Lieberman would be named by the Repub governor of CT, Jodi Rell, but then an election for the seat would happen in 2008. Yes, Lamont could then run again.

The problem is we'd lose our majority and thus our committee chairmanships and thus our ability to conduct oversight hearings until Lamont or another Dem could win the seat from the appointed Repub in November 2008.

Sorry Barb but that's not true, committee chairmanships and majority status are agreed to, put in writing at the start of a new congress, they stay that way until the start of the 111th congress regardless of a seat or two changing. If the decider nominates LieBerputz for U.S. AG we still have the majority but one less vote, the way he (LieBerputz) votes it won't much matter. Johnson will be back next month so his vote will make up for it. I seriously doubt that Holy Joe would get appointed, Bu$h wants someone dedicated to HIM and HIM only, the hell with who and what they are supposed to represent, (Constitution and "we the people").

VP: Phew, a wiser head prevails! I'm relieved that our committeeships and majority would remain the same if Joementum wasn't there.

But, but, isn't Joe dedicated to Bush and Bush only? I guess it only seems like that when certain critical votes are taken.

At any rate you're probably right that Bush will go with someone else. No doubt he'll want someone who will continue to stonewall the Congress and keep the lid on all the illegalities and politicizing of the DOJ.

I think I'd rather see him in the AG's office than in a Senate seat. Then he'd be gone for good in 18 months or so. Also, theoretically at least, the Dems could impeach him.

Hi Kathy! Theoretically is right. If the Dems ever mustered the cajones to impeach any of the criminals in the Bush regime I think Dems worldwide would be at risk of heart attacks. They don't like to do anything the Repubs might attack them on, which means they pretty much can't do anything at all, right?
